To say the obvious... folks like Deborah Fisher are using their higher thinking faculties to hear what kids are saying, to help parents understand and be with their kids living to their end. Life is being shared with any who care to be present. While she talks about this as a Nurse Practitioner, appropriate Chaplains are involved too. The Spiritual side of life is involved. Kids and their families are connected to God/Spirit/Presence/Higher Power in ways genuine to them. What a wonderful experience of the 23rd Psalm: "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for thou art with me… thou anointest my head with oil, my cup overflows."
The end of life doesn't cause a particular response in us...but it can be lived through mainly under the influence of the Survival Brain... or mainly in the light and well-being of our clearer thinking, calmer feeling, and connection to our Higher Power.
